I just wanted to say hello everyone. I'm mike, a blacksmith from Alabama. I've had a growing interest in gunsmithing for a while now and now I find myself daydreaming more and more about it. I don't really know what else to say so if anyone has any questions for me feel free to ask.

Mike, Welcome to our forum my friend! We are glad to have ya aboard. Some of the nicest folks I've ever had the pleasure to meet come from Alabama. Your in good company here!

This forum is the very best by far when it comes to Traditional Muzzleloaders and BP shooting. We also cover in dept all the other related area's that go along with it as well.

You have a very interesting trade and I could see you enjoying our The Gun Builder's Bench as well as The Craftsman. All area's of the forum are top notch as well!

You will find like minded folks as yourself right here! The majority of our member's have decades of knowledge and experience. They would be more than happy to answer any questions that you may have. We would also love to hear from you as well!

We also have a Search feature which is located at the top of the forums page's. It is a great tool to utilize for research or for looking up something specific. You can also adjust the date range's at the bottom of the forums page's. By doing this you will be able to view additional topics in this forum.

Our forum is also a lively place with new topics being created on a daily basis. There is something new to checkout all the time!

Also the learning opportunities here are endless! I guarantee you will learn something new each and every time you visit this forum. I continue to learn on a daily basis. It truly is endless!

Lastly, and most importantly! Our forum is a friendly place. You will make lifelong friends who share your love and passion for every thing that Traditional Muzzleloading and BP shooting has to offer.

Again, we are glad that you have decided to become one of our member's. We also look forward to hearing from you in the very near future.

Mike, Welcome Aboard my friend!

Respectfully, Cowboy :hatsoff:

Thanks for the welcome, Cowboy. I'm definitely looking at some of the info in the builders bench and craftsman sections looking to learn.

Mike, we can always use another blacksmith here. I look forward to your posts and photos, whether of gun parts or camp tools or whatever. I do a bit of forging too, but none of my stuff is worth a hoot unless super simple, like a coat hook.

Welcome! Just after coming back from across the pond the second and last time, I lived in Phenix City while stationed at Fort Benning with the Ranger Department. Nice to have you with us. This is the place to learn and swap some experiences.

Where across the pond were you? I spent a year in Iraq back in 06-07. I never made it to Benning, thought about it but never pursued it.

Thanks everyone for the welcomes.

You might be just the guy I need to visit then lol. I've got a local gunsmith that's supposed to be finding an old black powder barrel for some blacksmithing project I've been asked to make someone and I'm hoping to have some left over for my first pistol build.

In II Corps, the Highlands of Viet Nam, Republic of. First tour up north in Buon Ho District, Darlac Province. Second tour, back to Darlac, but as the S2/S3 Advisor. Didn't get shot at during that tour, but got to appreciate that we didn't get rockets tossed our way when I was living and working with the Montagnards... just mortars and 75mm recoiless rifles and lots of booby traps out in the bush. Living with real sheets, showers and actual real cold beer was a nice change. I'll admit it, I enjoyed being a REMF

Welcome again. I can sure recommend that you consider a nice flintlock rifle!

I know you probably hear it often but thank you for your service. It's people like you that allowed me to grow up in a free land. I misread what you first said, I thought you made a recent trip across.

My grandfather spent a couple years in Vietnam my dad and I spent a year in Iraq (he was desert storm I was Iraqi freedom) and my brother spent a year in Afghanistan. We have a lot of people in my family that served and most of us were Army, the rest Air Force.

I am definitely lookin get forward to a muzzleloader build after I finish restoring a 30 year old Marlin model 60.

I would like to thank all our Vets for their service its why we are the land of the free and the home of the brave :hatsoff: After all it is Americas birthday today. By the way I'm an Old Alabamian as well .Im from Lauderdale Co. I own a place in Colbert Co but live in the hills & hollows of Tn. Welcome aboard I'm looking forward to seeing some of your work.
