There are pictographic drawings by the Indians showing "capotes" or a blanket type coat long before the reservation period took place.

Hi Jonathan, how you doing?
I got the wallpaper pic from cabelas.
Around $80.00.
Took about 6 hours to put up.
I got that belt from log cabin also.
It is 3" wide.I cut the end off and sewed it to the belt and made a pistol holster.
I have a 2 1/2 belt also.

When I referred to reservation period I wasn't refferring to capotes not being before then. I was talking about the fancy style coats with the edges bound, ribbons and other fancy decorations. The Metis had decorated capotes during the fur trade period and a few others but the norm was probably just a plain coat, often without hood and with the edges raw, unhemmed. I find that having a seperate hood, unattached to the coat is more versital.

thats a darn nice setup on that belt. I'll have to give that a try once i find the pistol that i want. Sure is a shame that lyman doesnt make a flintlock plains pistol :cursing:

I know what you mean.
Ive looked and looked for one of those puppies.
I would like to have both the GPR and pistol in flint.
That would be a nice set.
