That .40 cal makes a helluva wound.
Good job. Nice looking rifle! Congratulations
Oh well done Nothing wrong with a .400. Mine had hunted cape buffalo but not by me it’s a 450-400 double. I can only dream of using it in uk, I also dream of hunting deer with my .36 percussion double rifle , but you are the nearest that had come to .36. Although smaller I have got together a range of bullets both cast and jacketed between 140g and 280g It’s skill and shot placement that count not a great big lead ball. Having said that. I have a .600. Cape double rifle but I would not want to carry that far. Both are percussion but in my old age my life is more flintlocks I do wish you well most interestingGot this doe this morning with my .40 cal Bedford flint lock rifle that I built. Used a .395 lead ball, 0.010 prelubed patch and 40 gr, Goex 3f powder. Shot was about 40 yards. She went about 80 yards.

It did make it more special because it was a rifle I made. That is one of the reasons I built the gun. Here in Michigan there is no minimum on caliber size for muzzle loaders for deer, and I wanted a gun that could also be a good squirrel rifle, so I chose .40. Was concerned that maybe it was a bit small, but it did the job. I did pass on several that were further away from me over the last couple of weeks, and patiently waited for one to come within my self imposed limit of 50 yards. You shot that with a varmint rifle!
Excellent work. It must be something very special when you made the rifle as well.
Something I will never experience.
Fantastic, I was not being critical at all. Kudos to youIt did make it more special because it was a rifle I made. That is one of the reasons I built the gun.
