just got my blunderbuss from the folks at militaryheritage.com
looks very nice and solid; of course the hole is not drilled yet and they provided no instructions that i can find; for anyone who has done this: what size is it? and are there any particulary precautions/complications? thanks

The vent should be at or slightly above the table as all original Bess' were that way as it gives the fastest ignition. It should be 1/16".

As well, if you have the means & experience, remove the breech-plug without damaging the barrel, then use a dremel tool or weasel or some other like tool with a small round bit to make the entry into the bore smooth, without burr and slightly cup-shaped. This will act just like a screw-in vent liner to speed ingnito
: I too have looked at those pics of the blunderbuss with anticipation of buying one in the future. A 15" barel on what looks to be a well made piece should make a fast rabbit gun for sure.
