I'm getting ready to send him a barrel to re bore. Any one have one done recently? What is his current charge? I'm out West and the time difference makes it hard to call him and actually get him on the phone. My last one a few years ago was $120 ish.

I don't know if barrel length is part of the quote but what I asked about was an old chunk gun with a 47-inch barrel.

It wasn't a re-bore with rifling, but I recently had a 12 in. smoothbore pistol lined from .56 down to .54 and he charged me $50.

I am on the west coast as well, but I was able to catch him at 10 ET on the phone.

With a 2 inch stretch, a reline and bayonet lug added to my Harpers ferry M1842 barrel was $200 a few months ago. I dropped it off and picked it up so no shipping charges. YMMV

Everyone has a 54! Not many have a 52. I'm a caster and will be having a custom mold made. Mr. Hoyt re bored a 50 cal New Englander barrel to 52 cal for me and it shot awesome. I just couldn't fall in love with the New Englander stock profile.

I had him bore out a .40 barrel to .45 back in the spring and he did it for $120; talk about a deal!

No he doesn't stamp the caliber on the barrel

Just got my 1861 Springfield back Wednesday. It was a reline .577 as the barrel was a sewage pipe. Beautiful work, was 225 if I remember correctly. About two months turnaround.

He rebored mine from 50 to 54 and he didn't stamp the new caliber on the barrel. There might be some gov't red tape on that.

As others stated, he does not stamp the ‘new’ caliber on the barrel. I have always put the new information on the bottom flat of the barrel, plus I remove or defarb any old information on the top flats. Makes it easier in the future when all the history on the barrel is forgotten, at least for me.

Just had a .69 smoothbore lined. Cost around $225 + shipping.

I had him convert a 54 hawken into a 50 with a target liner. I believe it was about $175 about 2 - 3 years ago. I drove it up to his house since I was going to be in the area. Remote is putting it mildly.
