Many of you have probably already seen this on the ALR site, but I thought I'd post a few pictures of Bookie's (Steve Bookout) barrel welding seminar. It was held last week in Newton, Iowa. It was plenty hot but we learned how to turn a wrought iron wagon tire into a gun barrel. Here's a picture of those in attendance.

Yep.....it's borax. You add the flux, bring it up to welding temperature, and close up the seam.

Huh....... look at the dang paparazzi sneaking photos thru the window....... :cursing: :shake: You just can't get away from them........ :idunno:

Looks like ya all had a great time. Wonderful that Bookie will take the time to share & teach that for all of you.

that is awsome, I didn't know anyone still used much less taught those skills. That's fantastic. Now once you guys perfect a fancy damascus twist, I'll send you a wagon wheel and $20 for shipping.

Chris,
It was great meeting you and spending some time hammering iron together. It was hot but very enjoyable and educational. Thanks to Bookie for taking to time to share his hard earned knowledge.
You should post some oics of your rifles. The ones you brought looked real nice.
