Hi
me again. Can anyone recommend a good basic book about shooting a flintlock? LIke proper loads, cleaning, maintenance, adjustments, required accessories, etc etc. Just very basic how to not shoot your foot off or make the gun blow up in your face. Hitting something or acceptably near a target is also very nice.
thanks
sam

A good book to have around on all around black powder shooting is Lyman's Black Powder Handbook & Loading Manual. I believe the 2nd ed. is the most recent. It covers all forms of black powder shooting from flint locks to in-lines. Half of the book are black powder ballistic charts on most every common load and barrel combo you can think of. Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Cabela's and others have copies for sale.
My buddy has a copy of a video called "Powderhorn Bucks". It is about 15 years old, shot by some flint lock hunters up in Penn. The best how-to flint-lock hunting and shooting video I have ever seen. I found a link that has copies still for sale in VHS - http://www.elusivecamo.com/quest.htm - well worth the money for this one IMO.

Thanks very much. I went to the video site but they don't have an order form
I'll contact them and ask for one
