Books on Pennsylvania Rifles

Looking for literature on Penn. Rifles. Can anyone suggest or recommend anything?

If your strictly looking for Penna. rifles I would recommend "The Pennsylvania Kentucky Rifle" by Henry Kauffman. It was my first book and still one of my favorites. Picked up a like new copy on Ebay for $20.

George Shumway's "Pennsylvania Longrifles of Note" is also an inexpensive little book with information on the various schools within the state.

You could try bookfinder.com (on of my favorite book search engines) for any of the following titles from Old Bedford Village Press in Bedford, PA.

"Gunsmiths of Bedford, Somerset and Fulton Counties, Pennsylvania"

"Gunsmiths of York County, Pennsylvania" (2nd ed is better than 1st)

"Gunsmiths of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania" (prefer 2nd ed on this one too)

"Gunsmiths of Adams, Franklin and Cumberland Counties, Pa."

Arms Makers of Pennsylvania by James B. Whisker, 1990, ISBN 0-941664-81-3. Also "Arms Makers of Western Pennsylvania" by James Biser Whisker, Old Bedford Village Press, 1994. You should be able to get these books and those mentioned above from an interlibrary loan, see your librarian. No cost for the loan.
