What is the best type to buy? I never really needed a bore light until now. I have always had breech loading military weapons, and a piece of paper is all that is needed.

Thanks to all!

I use one from CVA, it uses watch batteries for power. It'll only fit 50 cal and up though. You just turn it on and drop it down the barrel. I'm sure there are other kinds for smaller bores.

i use an medical pen light and roll a round ball down the the bore and it lights up the bore pretty good fer me.........bob

Definitely different sizes...I thought they were all the same size, didn't notice any difference with a quick glance at a blister pack...got home and it wouldn't slide down my .45cal.......so it's now my ".54/.58cal bore light"

I think they're offered under several different labels, Traditions and CVA are two brands that I've got, and I think I've seen others...a scroll down through ML suppliers online catelogs should show them.

I think they're great...and when I learned not to look downbore right at the light itself, but to dial in my focus along one side at a time, it's amazing how much detail can be seen when slowing examining one groove at a time the full length of the bore...

Is this the one?

Here is a lesson I learned, If you let one go down a T/C barrel real fast till it hits bottom, it will get stuck. T/C has the patent breech and the little screw switch that gets turned to make it light up will just get snug in the off set in the breeck. Bang the muzzle end of barrel on the carpet for a while and it'll come back out. :front:

Heehee

I made a .30 borelight for someone once. It wasn't easy, but I couldn't resist showing off ::

I have a LED light that will easily go down a 22 bbl, so they make them. I got mine at our state muzzleloading convention a couple of years ago, but don't remember who was selling them. They were inexpensive($3). Start looking is all I can say.

Wanna make another??

I am so far behind in my makings that I can't take on amy more, I haven't made Slowpoke's cannon bore yet

OTOH I made a bunch of the .40" version if that's any good to you?

i also remember that wal-mart carrys a fiber optic cable that fits over the lens of a mini mag light and is only 1/8" dia..............bob

I know a fella that uses the LED from those light-up night time fishing bobbers. Slides right down a 22 size bore no problem, lights up the bore plenty good.

.40 is fine! how much, and where to send the green?

Hi Pat

I have a steady stream of wonderful things coming across the pond from America, muzzle loaders are just so generous and I never get to pay for anything :shocking:

It would be my pleasure to send you a .4" borelight, but you'll have to wait while I get some batteries

Send me a mail address to [email protected]

best regards

I have the CVA bore light and if you unscrew the knurled knob it will fit down a .45c bore.

Before they came out w/ the ML bore light seen above, I used a small Mag-llite: one AAA battery. Works in .50 & above. I think it gives better light than the green bore light, plus it keeps coming apart or the batteries keep running down as it's always in my cleaning kit.

Shooting out a stuck cleaning jag is bad enough. How would I explain having to shoot out a bore lite? ::

The bore light on the left is a mirror, (don't forget to take it out when you ram down a patch) The other one is aluminum (<?) I got from the possible shop, they both work fine,, Don't mind Frank,, He wouldn't move,,

Aw heck, next hunting trip, just dig it out from the off side of the deer's hide, make sure your buds are present, will impress the hades out of them. Tell them you have a laser ML that seeks out it's quarry.
