I've had a Navy Arms "Magnum" 12 double ever since I was 15, still have it. For my 50th B-day I bought myself this nice little 6 lb. double flintlock. It was made by a local fellow that I feel ahs considerable skill. The locks look to be L&R, and the dense walnut looks very sturdy. It had never even been struck! I'll be in touch with the fellow and it of course needs just a little tuning. One trigger is a bit loose and one lock is not springing the cover right. Ordering some proper English flints from TOW. I wonder how the locks are held in place? I may take the trigger bow and trigger plate off to have a peak. Any guesses? Don't seem to be pinned through.

I paid a bit for it, traded some actually, but when else would I have a chance?! It has $300 worth of locks alone, and the barrels! I'm very excited and hope to shoot dove this Fall.

Very nice purchase. Try looking under the hammers for the lock screws. There is probably one screw which holds the locks together. There will also be something at the front of the locks which holds the front of the locks in place. If there is nothing visible, there is probably a hook on the back of the lock plate which engages a metal plate which is mounted in the lock recess. If you remove the lock screw which holds the two locks together, the locks should swing out.

Very nice double, you were very lucky to find that one. It's a beauty.

Nice looking shotgun ya have there  Don't see to many double flinters! the wood also looks awesome. I would'nt mind having it myself, course I would be hunting squirrels an rabbit with it.

What a nice little lightweight gun. That would be fun on a rabbit hunt over beagles!!

Nice! You will love it. Hunting doves with one is way too much fun. That is all I do with mine. Seeing the tag on the gun, just tells me you got a real bargain! You did good.

Great looking double you have there.

Not to sure on the make of those locks but most likely not L&R Locks.

That is a very nice shotgun and you do not find many flint doubles. Couldn't help but not the price tag. That is a very good buy. The few issues you are having can probably be resolved without difficulty. Have you found a maker's name any where on the piece?

 That is one fine look'n double...do be careful to use correct size screw driver on those screw heads as thay look to be in excellent shape...please keep us posted as to your findings on removal of those locks!
