It seems like there are way too many people trying for 1st place in the Darwin Awards.

And, unfortunately, there are some who make it. :hmm:

Actually, I had a guy who won a Darwin Award, and lived...

NO, REALLY!

I investigated a guy who, according to the ER Doctor, "Nicked John [Thomas] and blew off the twins". :shake: (The doctor was English by birth) The Darwin Winner was very uncooperative, but from the wound and the powder burns, I figured he was trying to pull a modern handgun from his waistband (most likely as the robber) and the front sight snagged on his pants, so when he tightened his grip his booger hook tightened on the bang switch and BLAM! .

Anyway, yes I agree we keep teaching, and try to help novices to learn that not all powder is "black powder" regardless of the actual color, or what the clerk says..., and try to dispel TV gun-handling too...above is a case in point I guess..

"Nicked John [Thomas] and blew off the twins".
At least he removed himself as a contributor to the gene pool (one pool that desperately needs a good dose of Chlorine)....

I would never trust a store clerk to give me sound advice concerning BP or appropriate substitutes.

Yes, wise thinking. The flagship store for Bass Pro Shops is in my extended 'neighborhood'. One would think the BPS management would field its best team on the retail floor. But, not so. :shake: Their sales people are capable of doing little more than point and grunt when asked a question. But, somehow, they sell rifles and fishing gear worth thousands of dollars big time all day, every day. Oh, well. Caveat emptor.

One of the most accurate qoutes I heard

" it's the simple/little things in life that are the real killers"

Seen many examples of it
