Does anyone keep their range rods, jags, measures etc. tarnish free? Me I just let them tarnish and stain but was wondering if anyone goes through the trouble to keep them clean. I have switched to wooden measures but when I was using a brass measure it was hard to read the setting die to the staining.

I leave mine as is -- powder stained as all get out. My powder measure and my brass range rod barely look like brass anymore. Same with jags. Comes from years and years of Civil War reenacting and aspiring to have my brass and Enfield barrel look like they weren't being carried into their first battle.

Try rubbing and eraser over the markings on your powder measure. It will clean it up enough so you can read it. Or lightly polish it with emery paper. :thumb:
