I'm restocking my mostly Renegade parts onto a Pecatonica TC stock. The TG is brass and I intend to install a TC Hawken brass nosecap. To get a match up ill use a brass black solution of which there seems to be several. What I'd like to know is which one will hold up the best with use?

Most instant blue liquid , is Selenium Dioxide. Try to read the ingredients on the label, and they might be listed. When I first noted selenium dioxide on instant blue bottles , I asked my Father in law , ( Metallurgical research chemist ) , about it , and he said the steel company would order that specific chemical in 55 gal. drums , and use it to surface blue sheet steel , after it was rolled , to prevent surface rust . Also, this blue chemical will blacken brass .......... Hope this helps.......oldwood

I like this……it can also be used to produce various shades of grey on steel components. Used to be offered by Kibler, but can be bought directly from the manufacturer.

I tried the perma blue on a brass butt plate to see how it looks. Not perfectly even but probably due to my hurried application.

Appreciate all of you giving me some direction.

I've had best results by using a very saturated cotton ball and lightly rubbing in long stokes till it changes color to a dark chocolate brown color, let dry , rinse with cold water , and gently rub on a coat a paste wax, then buff off.
