Oh, please don't do that..... getting rid of all the brass....
Ditto that recco.I’d leave it as is…
Would definitely say go for it, much can be done to improve them in form, fit and function to a point. You’ll also learn a lot as you go so the next one is even better. I had a little more leeway with mine since it started out as a kit. My India made British Sea Service pistol kit (very similar to your Dragoon) PathfinderNC referenced above had a highly polished steel barrel and lock which almost looked chrome plated. I hit all of it with 220/320 grit paper and cold blued, then rubbed back with oil coated 0000 steel wool for an aged look. A lot of wood came off as well to get it looking more representative of an original. Very pleased with the final, final result since it’s been redone twice now. It’s also a great shooter, with a quick consistent lock with frizzen I resold. I have even hit 100 yard 12” plate with it on the first try, purely luck, and fortunately had stunned witnesses as well as myself!!! Couldn’t do it again, lol. Good luck in your endeavor and go for it. These are so much fun!A reproduction British dragoon. Thinking about redoing it and getting rid of all the brass before my hand gives out completely.
