Lockjaw,
Was that Hoppes 9 or 9 plus for BP? Are you saying you had no rust? Hollywood really likes that Breakin' all the rules stuff! Maybe there is a movie in this for you!  :rotf: :blah: :surrender:

...regular old # 9, and no rust, was always a "natural" lube man...but i'm not going back to that greasy kid's stuff...

...i never measured the bore, but it's a 20 ga., (.620)...the fiber wads i use are 20 ga.

Mr. lockjaw,
We have had similar experience/results when using Hoppes #9 (regular). No problem with rust in muzzleloaders or BP cartridge guns.
Best Wishes

Sorry i did not ask this earlier. What is the brand of your 20ga. fowler? Thanks,Mike

...technically not a fowler...a caywood chiefs grade trade gun, built from a kit, left hand, 42" barrel...not as pc as some i guess, maple stock, steel butt plate, externally coned vent...no liner, but very reliable ignition...sparks great using rich pierce's missouri flints...
