Broken Main Spring on L&R Durrs Egg lock

The Main Spring on my 30 year-old L&R Durrs Egg lock broke . Is there a place to get a hardened/ready to go replacement? I don't have the experience to harden one myself.

L&R, perhaps? A good TIG welder could weld it for you.

I believe mine is cast steel. (They evidently had many breaks from being cast; my original broke a year after I got it). Is the face plate hardened do you know?

L&R will replace the mainspring with what they call a "folded spring"(forged instead of cast)for the cost of the spring and return postage. It is also snapper than the cast. I did it and it helped. If you can fill the hole and redrill it, you could just buy the spring. I could have done it, but it was easier for me to send them the lock than to mess with it..
