AlaskaBushMan, refer to the Percussion section and then punch up the thread "New to Muzzleoading" Sawtooth Taxi. He just got one.

I looked for one priced right for quite awhile before finding one in 45cal.
I have since purchased another barrel for it

Just out of curiosity, what did you pay for that rifle? I had a chance to pick one up years ago when I was stationed out in Montana. I thnk they were asking $400.00 and change at that point. Wish I picked it up. In NIB condition they're fetching better than a Grand now. For a production rifle I'd put them up there with the Ithaca Hawkens. Nice rifles though.

I owned 2 of them. Neither was very accurate. If I had one, I'd get TOW to make up a Green Mountain barrel for it.

It's interesting to hear that yours did'nt shoot very well. What I was ideally thinking of, was having one in NIB condition so that I could sell it and have a nice new rifle built for me by either John Bergmann or Bill Shipman.

I will say, they were rather nice looking rifles though.

each rifle different. I would not sell a rifle because I was told that another of the same did not shoot well!

If you can get a good price for it, I'd do that. Once it's fired it will lose some value, and what's the use of having something you can't or won't shoot. I thought I had the ultimate rifle when I bought mine.

I guess you're missing my point Hairtrigger. What I was trying to say is that I have purchased numerous firearms over the years strictly for investment purposes. I never intended on firing them when I bought them and kept them in NIB condition so that at a later time I could sell them in order to buy something I really wanted and would intend to keep and shoot.

Case in point. I bought a number of Kimber rifles back in the 80's that I kept in NIB condition. I recently sold a couple of them to pay for the latest Hawken I had built for me. And I did make a profit on them.

I rarely sell a gun.
The one or two I sold last year I regret.
LOL
I just wait until I can almost aford the next one and make a purchase. Keeps me employed!

I have a .54 browning. It shoots one hole groups off the bench. I cant hold that steady to get groups like that off hand. The browning is one of the best rifles I have seen. This is the only negitive response to the browning I have ever heard. There are several links on this forum that can back that up. Wonder if you didnt put in enough time on the bench. I normally spend at least 8 hours sighting in a gun.

Try that in the perc site about 60 days ago I think it got covered really good(I dont know I cant get past 02/26 06????? FRED :hatsoff:
