Hey Bill, Welcome aboard. It is a major endeavor to build a double muzzleloader.

I urge anybody who is intent on doing so to start by getting the book Recreating the Double Barreled Muzzle-Loading Shotgun by Bill Brockway: http://store.scurlockpublishing.co...lmuzzle-loadingshotgunbywilliamrbrockway.aspx

In the book he outlines how to convert existing barrel sets to flint and will answer your question and more.

You will find it an invaluable resource. Enjoy, J.D.

I don't know about these, is there enough metal for threads? Keep us informed.

You might not want to cut up those W.C. Scott barrels just yet. A quick internet search revealed that some think those Scott double guns are worth quite a bit of money. Likely somebody might give you a fair bit to have an extra set for their gun.

Check Guns International. Just saying you may want to do a little research first is all. There are too many less expensive sets out there to ruin a good set.

Enjoy, J.D.

J D , not to sure how to surf the net I paid 40 for the w.c. scott barrels have draw filed the outsides
the in sides a little rough the barrels ring well
need an expandable reamer, barrels measure 27.5 in long. was planing on using friends lathe to turn breech plugs to make flintlock thats Bill Perry

Well, the price was right for the barrels. Sounds like an interesting project, please post photos and updates as you move along.

Hey Bill, Sorry, but I'm out. There are just too many variables and not enough information.

I strongly suggest you buy the book. It is available through the link I gave and various others. It will walk you through the process and you will get your money back in avoided pitfalls.

Good Luck, J.D.
