Yeah ...me and a bud were up at Log Cabin shop ...ummm....probably a month ago and she was out of my Early English locks I use exclusively and I e called her every week since inquiring about them but ...not yet ... Dandy locks ...Lock availability does seem to be a problem. Still haven’t called Log Cabin about my mainspring, but I will.
I sent Clay the photos of the mainspring, of course he sends the locks as is, which is understandable. He said they’re really rushing to fill back orders. So issues should be expected to some extent now. And yes, I think it will be a great lock when done.Yeah ...me and a bud were up at Log Cabin shop ...ummm....probably a month ago and she was out of my Early English locks I use exclusively and I e called her every week since inquiring about them but ...not yet ... Yeah ,he just grabs the lock and puts them in a box with the other parts . He isn't liable for them but the manufacturer is ....I sent Clay the photos of the mainspring, of course he sends the locks as is, which is understandable. LOL ...your awesome bud . Yeah, I'll post , or try to anyway , d@mn phone ! but I'll have to wait till I get a visitor to the homestead to do it for me . I hope I can help out anyone that wants yo build. esp. a trade gun . Everything is so d@mn expensive these days ,I'd love to walk someone through a whole build , bad thing is they'd still have 500 in the thing , you can buy two brand new pump shotguns for that ! Wish they didn't cost so much . I sure love em though . Funny ....I was really battling myself today ...I had to do a little work.on a NW gun Im finishing up , do some work on mine and start Dave's Carolina Gun today ... I gouged out the initial 3/4 groove on Dave's and started I letting the Breech of the barrel , then stepped back to look it over ...and I was excited , genuinely excited for this new build for Dave . I hope that never goes away ...Rob were waiting for the video shoot. As in a video of you shooting the new NWTrade gun we’ve just watch you build. You have to bud ,you know it’s the right thing to do?? buy the way she’s a thing of beauty and again thankyou for this informative thread meant a lot to all who watched I’m sure.I know I enjoyed it and the pictures you posted also. That is why a lot official us are this site to learn about these old guns and the comoderywith guys like yourself who are all willing to help us not so knowledgeable to also learn and be more efficient at what we like to do,make smoke with flint lock smooth bores.thanks again walt

Rob I noticed in your pictures there is grass ,must be nice cause we still have 2 ft of snow and won’t rid of it till some time near the end of April .we have roughly six to seven months of good shooting weather and then not so good but I still manage to burn up 2/3 lbs of powder every season.I finely found some4 f for my flintlocks this winter at a gun show.stuff is not only getting hard to get but expensive also.Hope you share some of your next build with us thanx waltShe is ...well , close to done ...more info after I see if these pics frikken download or not ...
