I got off work early today and the do something urge hit me so I made a couple of bullet pouches.
They are made from 6-7oz veg-tan leather and then sewn with artifical sinew. I then antique them with my witches brew dye which consists of homemade pecan dye and whatever was left in the other bottles on the shelf.

The stuff I am using has been boiled down about 5 or 6 times and has a little cornstarch in it amongst other things.

I have about a gallon of it and when I run out I will have to start all over and see what I come up with :idunno:
Just your basic Pecan comes out a nice soft brown according to how long you want to soak whatever it is you are dyeing and how thick you got it when you boiled it down.

I use alot of it mainly because I have to listen to the durn things dropping on my shop roof all the time. :shocked2:

That is a nice color

:rotf: that's the reason I use walnut !

Do you stain the pouches with the sand (or what ever you use to form them) still in, or after you remove the substance? And yeah, I have a BUNCH of walnut trees!

I do the staining first. Since this dye is used like a dip it also serves to soak the pouch and get it wet enough to stretch.

Getting about 6 or8 of the durn things dropping on the roof at the same time will sure get your attention :shocked2: :rotf:
