Thanks for your comments. I have only played around with PP bullets a little, and certainly can use more training and experience. I have not use wet paper to wrap the bullets. I will have to try that, and see if I can get away with just cutting off the "teat" on a plain base bullet. It sounds like it will work well- better than fighting with oiled PP bullets. I always use an OP wad under my PP bullets to protect the base, and seal the bore from the gases. I don't want to ask the paper- no matter what quality I use, to hold back the gases behind these big slugs. The fact that they seize the rifling and spin my bullet, while keeping the bullet centered in the bore is all the work I want the paper to do.

I think he was referring to the blood blister under your left thumbnail. :hmm:

OK now I get it :rotf:. I forgot about that in the picture. Ron

Hi,

Try Jones or Brooks for a properly sized mold. I shoot a .449 bore long-range rifle using a .440 bullet paper-patched out to .448. Mon Yee at Classic Cast may be able to set you up with various properly sized grease groove bullets to try out in the rifle, before you buy a mold. Joe at J.Cunard has sizing dies.

Regards,

I suggest sending an email to [email protected] ,He was very helpful and will make a steel bullet mould for around $160. plus S/H. Turn around time is aprox. 3 wks. He will also make an RCBS bullet sizer for an additional $10.
