What do you think of a burlap hunting pouch?
Thoughts on the historical correctness for an early 19th century mid central states persona?
I've a large piece of burlap (Hessian) cloth, and some pillow ticking, and thinking of making a burlap out/ pillow-ticking insiede 8"x9" hunting pouch. It appears burlap was available in the later 18th century.
I'm thinking I would make the pouch water-resistant using the "soak in beeswax, dry in an unheated but currrently OFF 350F oven."
I have a horn strap using that beeswax technique, but it is tightly woven vs. burlap which is very loose. The strap has a firm feel, which I would like to duplicate in a burlap hunting pouch.
