I have a neat little double flint shotgun which is a bit too short in the stock for me. I need close to 14 inches length of pull, and it's only 13 1/2 inches. I've been thinking I need to make a pad to correct that for some time, and this year's rabbit season gave me a strong reminder, so I finally got it done. I cut out and laminated 4 layers of vegetable tanned leather, carved, ground and sanded it to make the proper extension. To make the holder I used some oil tanned leather which was already dyed, cut and fitted as I went, sewed it together with waxed flax thread and wound up with a pad which does the job very well. The gun comes up on the bead just right when snapped to the shoulder. Doubt it will help with the rabbits, but at least I didn't give up on the little rascals without a fight.

Thanks for the kind wishes, but I think it's too late. They really had my number this year.

Pretty good. Even protects the butt of the gun while loading (mud, snow, rocks).
