That is a fine looking piece of wood. Fit and finish looks top notch too. So much better than the beech Traditions uses. A lot of these Investarms stocks look like sapele mahagony. Investarms claims their stocks are made of walnut. But I don't think they are.
I bough this one 3 years ago and always thought it had a little nicer stock than what is typically used. Seemed to have quite a bit more grain than a standard stock.

Well, the rifle has some light pitting a few inches down the bore. Other than that it's pretty clean. Not abused, but maybe a solid 7/10 in terms of condition. Still a deal at $300? I don't have enough experience with muzzleloaders to know how much of a difference that pitting could make on accuracy. Thoughts? The bar is low for me though as my eyes don't see open sights verywell anymore, so if I was able to shoot 3" groups at 75, I'd probably be ok with it. I'd definitely look at adding a peep of some sort. Which peeps would lend themselves well to a LH percussion gun? Thanks again!

I had 4, have 3 now. Sold a .54 for about $450.00 +/-. I would NOT sell mine for $300.00. Mine are all chrome lined barrels. Last month I shot a 65 yd 3 shot group of 3/4" with PRB and 85 gr 777. Thats my .58, have another and another .54. Pop shot his buff with the .58 Hornady Great Plains bullet. Was running. Boom three more jumps and DEAD.

If yer comfortable with it $300.0 is a steal IMH. (I do take care of my guns though, zero rust/pitting)

No experience with the TC. My .45 TC hawkin fits me well and so do the Investarms Cabelas.

Let us know which one you get (or heck, get both! she will NOT kill you and you may enjoy the silent treatment for the first few weeks!)

I'm going forward with the Cabela's Hawken! Thanks for all of the feedback - It'll be a good gun to get me back into the BP game. Were they all chrome lined? What are the look-fors to determine a chrome-lined barrel vs not?

I don't think they were all chrome lined, but I'm not sure. If it has a chromed bore it'll be obvious. It'll be shiny silver around the bore at the muzzle.

I got lucky with mine, picked up for 100.00. Stock had been notched out for a peep sight, so kind of crappy, but bore was clean. Bought a nice stock on ebay for 65.00, sold mine for 45.00 as a project to someone; so overall a pretty inexpensive gun - and in .54 cal too.
