Cable Sheathing Lead?

Was able to score about 75lbs of cable sheathing and I got around to cleaning it up and casting it into 1lb ingots. I noticed that the ingots are pretty shiny and they have a mild metallic clang if I drop it on cement. It seems pretty soft and I can easily gouge and scratch it with a fingernail.

I cast some .530 balls and they weigh 223gr and are exactly .530 from my Lyman mold. I guess it’s not as pure as I had thought?

I was in the phone company. I have used hundreds of pounds of cable lead. Soft is soft and use it without worry. I have not found anything softer than this for bullets and balls.

That one grain weight might be lost with the sprue?

My .530 roundballs usually weigh 232- 236…using soft lead.
Poured using a Lee mold.

If you can put a nice scratch in it with a finger nail…it’s soft lead

It's not dead soft BUT for round ball it's fine.
