I have made the conversion from a cap lock to a flint lock.

I started with my Southern Styled Mountain rifle that was built as a flint lock that was converted to cap lock.

Since the lock was an L&R Manton flint lock, it was nearly a drop in replacement to return it to flint lock configuration.

I like it better as a flint lock. In this case the conversion was a good idea.

Keep an eye on Gunbroker, I picked up three or four flintlocks for very reasonable prices. The best deal was for a Pedersoli Pennsylvania Dixie 45 cal flintlock in very good condition for $225.00, a Hatfield Kentucky 45 cal for $175.00 that needed some minor work. Another good deal was from Cabela's for a close out Bargain Barn Pedersoli Blue Ridge Frontier 54 cal flintlock (new un-fired return) for $480.00. Bargain's are out there but may take a while to find them.
Another place where I have seen some is right here in the classified's. Like others have said, keep the Bobcat for a beater/loaner.
Those are some good deals. I will be looking into that and yes I am going to keep the Bobcat for now. Thanks

I have been registered on Gunbroker for a long time. The way I found those deals is, I did a search for flintlock rifle and saved the search. When something was listed, I would get an email about it. If the listed price was reasonable I would bid on it. Of course a lot of times I would be outbid but every once in a while I would win. The best deal was the two Hatfield rifles (a flintlock and a percussion) I won for $350. Both rifles needed some minor work but for $175 each it was well worth it.
