Here is a picture of the top of my new Traditions 32 cal and I wanted to mount a peep sight but didn’t realize the tang on the Traditions rifle really has nothing to mount to. Am I just out of luck?

Not at all. You can mount a peep in the tang area. Skinner sights has a "low Pro" peep that just requires a single 6X48 drilled and tapped hole. It only has vertical adjustment. Horizontal adjustment is via the front sight. I have a couple of these sights on my Reneagade barrels and like them a lot. Close to the eye, and you can remove the aperture for a ghost ring type sight for hunting.

One is almost never out of luck provided he is creative. Use the tang bolt to secure whatever is needed as base to secure the sight. This is where you need to be creative making something simple that does the job. You also have the option to dill and tap the tang for more anchor points.

I called Williams Sights and got a knowledgeable man I believe and purchased some dove tail sights, both front (with white dot) and a ghost ring for the rear. I wasn’t able to see the sights very well with the stock sights but believe I’ll like this setup.

Grimord,
I want to put the low pro skinner sight on a Renegade . Not on the tang but on the breech plug. Where exactly did you put yours?

Elkeater,
Just keep in mind that your sight will be taking a bath every time you dunk it in a bucket of suds to clean. There aren't many moving parts but water could get under the peep aperture post. I mounted a Skinner sight to the tang, drilled and countersunk for one of the tang screws, and tapped for a 6-48 screw to make sure it didn't rotate.

Elkeater:

If you have one of the newer Renegade barrels, It has a small blind screw in the tang that is tapped 6X48. This is where I have put the Skinner Low Pro sight. The hole was originally for mounting a scope base to barrels. As for the sight taking a dunking when cleaning, I have not had any issues. After cleaning the inside of the barrel, I give the sight a squirt of wd-40 to displace any water that might stay in the peep sight. The Skinner sight has an "O" ring on the mounting screw which gets locked down to the tang with the mounting/adjustment nut

I wound up buying sights from Williams Sights. The rep seemed knowledgeable and I am optimistic, but I’m gettin a ghost ring rear and a white dot front sight. As my rifle has no tang I’ll be mounting the ghost ring with a dove tail to replace the factory rear sight. My eye won’t be as close to the aperture as I’d like but maybe it will be an improvement over factory. Just the white dot front should be an improvement over their gold bead.

TH, I’m 73. You have exactly what I have on order. Can you strike a match at 350 yards now?

I'm with THBailey. A peep as far back as possible, on the barrel/plug. Not on the tang.

Gowacky, since your tang is part of the barrel, I would drill and tap the tang for a Skinner low pro.

My late uncle mounted one of the Williams WGRS sights on a T/C Seneca by creating a wedge shaped block from some black material, maybe bedding compound? It makes for a nice neat, fairly inexpensive aperture sight.

Where did ya get that peep from?

I found it at Gary Thiry Gun Parts in Sacramento. Gary had an extensive stock of WGRS sights, so I took the gun into his shop and we tried various bases until we found this one that matched the barrel diameter. This was perhaps 20 years ago and I don't remember which one it was, but I do recall it was for some gun other than the New Englander. Williams does have a product search function on their web which might help.

They make one for the T/C Black Diamond, I would think that would be close.
