Me and my brother have several smaller mortars and cannons. We also have a bowling ball mortar that we take out for a day of shooting. I was able to get my hands on my dads muzzleloader that he put together from a kit before I was born. He passed away several years ago so I'm planning on fixing up his rifle. I like to think of it as one last project with my dad. He got the kit started and finished it "good enough" so I'm going to finish it to look awesome. It's a CVA Mountain Rifle Kit (made in US) and was one of CVA's first kits.

I enjoy shooting for the sake of shooting. I'm here to learn about muzzleloaders, with an interest in the Civil War, reenactment, and living history. If you're in the North Dakota area and would like to join us on a weekend cannon shoot let me know. The more the better.

I started out with a CVA kit in 1982.
After wearing out the lock I sold the rifle at a yard sale. I've had many better guns since then but I kind of had a desire to start back at the beginning. Then I found an early kit gun at a gun club swap meet. The guy did a great job on it and it's unfired. USA made with brass ramrod pipes. I hope to shoot a match with it when the weather warms up a bit.
I also have a 1/4 scale deck cannon.
It's cast iron barrel is 28 inches long.
Bore is 2-1/4". Problem is that there are air bubbles in the walls of the bore. It's beautiful on the outside but not perfect inside. I would like to find someone to make me a liner for the bore that I could epoxy in place.
Does anyone know of someone who could build a liner. Say 1.75 diameter?

Welcome from SC!! WOO WEE that BB Mortar looks like a lot of fun. I watch em launch them things on YT. How much powder does it take chunk a bowling ball? And then I watch them fellers launch Anvils. Pumpkin Chunkers, Bowlin Ball launchers, and Anvil chuckers, all seem like my type of folk!
