Being somewhat ignorant about a lot of things, what is considered a canoe gun?
Guess everyone will have their own definition, A canoe gun is simply a shorter gun that’s easier to handle and basically got its name for being able to carry, get to and raise and fire out of a canoe. More specifically they were, and somewhat came to exist by a normal size trade gun being damaged and the barrel cut back past the damage making it a shorter but still usable weapon. They were more nimble to handle both in a canoe as well as laying by your side while sleeping

If you don't get any luck here, Sitting Fox typically has a canoe gun or two listed on their site.

Mushka, A canoe gun could be considered a 'carbine' of the period. A very short gun. Easy to store, handle, and fire from a canoe.

OK, good enough descriptions for me. I thank you for the responses. If in the future I ever look for a canoe I'll know mostly what to look for.
Thanks.

Thanks, I have contacted Ray but was hoping to find something already finished and get pretty quick. If I don’t find anything I will probably get a kit from him

That’s drop-dead gorgeous. Just think, when i changed my mind about a TC flintlock, i had now idea i was developing a strong desire for a canoe gun.

Which just got stronger.
