Gourd? Very nice examples!
Did you have to "manage" or otherwise manipulate to get those into that nice symmetrical shape?

They grow like that, look up canteen gourds. Neat project to do, I have made a few for friends and regularly carry one when out and about.

I grew canteen gourds some years back and still have one.
Fdbsr1, what method do you usedto remove the pith and seeds once dry, and what do you use for a liner? Does water remain good-tasting?
Your canteens are impeccable and I am greatly impressed.

I soak them in water and some bleach, then I scrub them with a copper scouring pad, I clean the inside with a special tool I made to scrap the inside. when it is clean on the inside I warm the gourd in the oven bees wax line it. You can find a lot of information on the internet Google how to make a Gourd canteen. [Blinddog] Frank
