Im having problems putting caps on my nipples. I have a 1860 new army from uberti less then a year old. I never dry fire it, so I dont think the nipples are smashed or flat. I try to put one on and once it looks like its on I try to rotate the cylinder, but the cap makes contact with the gun, not allowing it to rotate. I dont know if the cap is crooked, im using #10 CCI caps.
Thanks

CCI No. 11's are wider, so will fit further down on the cone. Remington No. 10's are also wider but significantly taller, so they're probably just as bad. Best would be Remington No. 11's.

I have the same gun, maybe 2 years old. Stock nipples take cci #11 or Remington #10. Best thing is to replace the stock nipples with Treso nipples, and use Rem. #10 caps. The stock nipples are terrible. Your group sizes will shrink as well. The flash holes are smaller and more uniform.Possibl shop has them. Mine shoots 1" groups at 25 yds. Made a new front sight to shoot to POA.

I agree with the Treso nipple fix but I have tried to get them from several places and all are on back order I have a set of uncle mikes on order also ill let you know if they ever arive

The only Treso nipples on back order (according to the Possible Shop website) are for Piettas.

have you been dry-fireing that revolver?
if so remove the nipples and chuck them in a hand drill and use a file to remove the 'flare' from the end.
replace afer cleaning well and try #10 caps and press them carefully on with thumb first then 'CAREFULLY' press with the hammer until snugly seated with the revolver pointing down-range after you load. if you have a tight fitting slug/ball in place this will eliminate the chance of 'chainfires'. you don't want that to happen.
a snug fitting cap serves 2 purposes, fast ignition and weather seal.
