Friends, our 2nd Amendment rights are always under attack and the NRA has been a constant for decades in helping fight that fight.
We have partnered with the NRA to offer you a discount on membership and Muzzleloading Forum gets a small percentage too of each membership, so you are supporting both the NRA and us.
The caps seemed to fit on the nipple ok, but when I squeezed the trigger, it was hit and miss as to whether or not it would go off on the first try. Usually if I reset the hammer and squeeze the trigger again it would go off. Some would go off the first time, others it took two or three times. I've started wondering if maybe I didn't get two tins that were mixed #10's and #11's.
That can be an indication of other issues;
*A bad nipple
*The lock internals gummed up with old oil or gunk
*A screw or to loose on the lock internals
*The main lock screws too tight, pulling the lock into the mortice and causing drag on the internals.
:idunno:
Tried several different nipples. Same problem with all of them, including a brand new one. Everything was cleaned several times in the field and on the bench. This lock has been rebuilt as we thought that might have been the problem. Tried adjusting the main lock screws in and out for tightnes and slack, no change.
I tried caps out of an old tin my Dad keeps in his box, every one fired correctly the first time every time.
