Wholly crap!
Boy, I felt a bit soiled in January after have 5000 RWS 1075 Plus caps delivered to my door for around $280. Only time will tell if I overpaid.

I think its debatable whether that guy is the winner or the loser!
I don’t think you should feel soiled.
At only $.056 a cap for 5k I think that’s a good deal. I ordered 2500 from Midway about the same time and paid $160 about a penny difference per cap. I also had purchased some #11 magnums from a local shop they were $8 a 100 which is even more that’s why I bought the RWS Caps.

I was active in a local muzzleloader organisation beginning in 1984. By 1990, the group dissolved. About 1985, I purchased what I felt then was a crazy amount of German #11 RWS 1075s -- an entire box of 1,000, & that was in addition to my existing supply! I still have some in storage, & broke out a tin of them to do a sighting-in range visit three weeks ago. I was astonished that ALL of them fired as though I'd just brought them home from the store! And those were regular 1075s in 100 caps/tin. Now, the 1075-plus come in plastic "tins" at 250 per. In any case, I was amazed percussion caps stored for that long would be that reliable.
The same for black powder, I guess. I have FF Goex dating back to 1999 which means it's approaching the quarter century mark in age, yet it performs as though I'd just purchased it last week! I've stored it in a modern, self-defrosting refrigerator which probably was a benefit.
Now that I'm retired, I have the time to read about, construct & shoot muzzleloaders almost ad nauseum. There's the internet & this superb forum which, back in the day, wasn't even an option. Once BP's in yer blood, it's there to stay, right?
Yeah, there are supply challenges these days. We'll get through 'em. As many have commented, the limited number of us really demands we try to support each other even if it's just through expressing ourselves in this forum's environment. Just "Watch yer top knot!"

That powder is still young! There is powder from the civil war that still goes boom! That's what is nice about black powder, it doesn't go bad.

I didn't know that, but I believe it. It's amazing how with proper care, even with marginal care, much of our supplies will literally remain viable for generations! Just as Nameless stated, these items are becoming the new 401k. Who'd a-guessed? If "our folks" haven't stocked up yet, then it might be wise to keep one's attention on personal inventory control.
I'm just getting back into black powder with a Colt Walker replica. Also waiting for a flintlock kit to arrive. I had a tin of #10 CCI caps around here somewhere but...
Anyway I was just on powder inc and was able to put caps into a cart. $132.00 for 1,000 caps is a bit excessive IMHO.

Wow, I can't believe the price of caps. I bought 4 boxes 1000 count caps at wal-mart in the late 90s, in the clearence isle for $2.00 a box. I am just now down to my last 1000.
Woah! I can't even hardly believe they were ever that cheap, and I've been buying them a lot longer than that. Very good foresight on your part. I've a few of the hundred count tins, have always tried to keep a stock on hand "just in case".
Tony thanks a lot for posting this! I checked it and it's very interesting. It looks like it takes a while to make them but when you figure how much time I have taken researching where to get caps, paying hazmat, and then waiting for them to arrive this process is very appealing! Thanks again for posting this!
My first gun was a Thompson-Center 54 cal Percussion Cap Renegade I bought back in 79. It's my oldest sons favorite gun and he shoots it when we go shooting out in the desert. But favorite gun is my Brown Bess which I have only had a few weeks. She's beautiful and shoots very well. At the present time, flints are still available and I have had no problem getting them. Track of the Wolf and Dixie Gun Works has them available....so flint lock may be and option for you.
