I finished up this here Carolina Gun / Type G and it'll be on its way to Missouri soon . Stained cherry stock , 38" , 20 ga. barrel , 5 1/2 pds. Hand made from a plank , not a kit . Handmade parts too . She's a dandy !

Ya, that's just real nice looking! I will remind you most certainly... I was just looking for a pure darker shade cherry with no darkening features (mock aging) but after I see this, I think I am sold. I still like my hardware clean though... you know... my o.c.d and all

Where is the rear site? That's the best part of the Type-G/Carolina gun. It's useful and drives the "smoothbores/tradeguns/fowlers, don't have rear sites," crowd nuts, lol.

There's actually strong archeological evidence that consumers actually preferred that these Carolina guns didn't have the rear sights. More often than not they're found separate from the guns at native sites as surface finds, but usually never on the gun. They could have fallen off, but the consistency of that happening would be staggering, just like how the last foot of barrel keeps falling off these reproductions.

Quick question, do you have a source for those big ole sparking rocks like you showing off in that lock that don't need leather to hold? Also, curious if you got a pix of you testing that lock with that rock. Just wanna see that shower of sparks.
