I saw a picture of another guy on another board, a casting board dressed up in only what I could describe as a full radiation suit and outside. Over kill yes but that's what he wanted to do. Again like I said if that's what you want to do to make you fell comfortable about it, then by all means do it.

LOL, yea i would not go that far but maybe cast in a clean room with robotic arms in a sealed container. :haha:

I fully concur with ClickFlash on the VENTILATION. I knew a fellow who had cast lead all his life, fishing sinkers and bullets. He died of lead poisoning. Not pleasant.

Another old friend, no longer with us, used to melt lead in his basement, and the whole cellar would be filled with smoke, and a fine, white dust on everything.
On those evenings, I would stay upstairs and visit with the wives. We're all still livin'.
VENTILATION.

Sorry to hear about your friend. Yes, i will be doing it outside so ventilation will be good.

My personal favorite thing to do on a beautiful late summer/early fall day, pre-season of course, is to take my portable workbench (a fold-up camping table) outside behind the garage, fire up the pot and cast plenty of RBs and maxis for me and all of my family and friends to use throughout the season (including range time). Just another thing that we do outside, iffen it ain't rainin. Common sense dictates here, as others have mentioned - NO eating or drinking until all done and washed up (then plenty afterwards!).

Been doing this for 20 years with no exposure. Ventilation and common sense is sufficient.

I know a guy last year that accidently dumped 20 lbs of molten lead on his foot. Burned it quite bad.

Sometimes we all get a little complacent.
