As a newbie to this forum and flintlock shooting, who is Chambers and Barbie? Where can I reach them?
Thanks, xbowman

Chambers is Jim Chambers of Chambers flintlocks. Barbie is his daughter and she sells barrels (buckeye barrels) and manages the gun kits. They can be reached here http://www.flintlocks.com/

Jim Chambers is a master builder of period correct longrifles and may have trained at Colonial Williamsburg. I believe he worked with John Bivins, a key person in the revival of the longrifle. To a Northerner, it seems those Southern boys all are thicker than thieves. We're just jealous!

Jim used to make guns nearly fulltime. He took over making the excellent Siler locks and then came out with several new models all his own. These are highly rated. See his wares at www.flintlocks.com. Then he started producing for sale, excellent period correct kits for longrifles and smoothbores of the 1750-1790 era (more or less, don't shoot me!). These are also highly rated and are extremely well-researched and designed. The parts are top-notch. Many custom makers have been known to use these kits as the basis for outstanding individualized custom arms.

Nowadays Jim is reported to be turning over the lockmaking and kit selling end of the business to his daughter, "Blackpowder Barbie". She also has her own business, "Buckeye Barrels" selling barrels made by excellent barrelsmiths. Jim, word has it, wants to make more custom rifles while time allows.

These folks are full of knowledge AND wisdom amd are gifted and charming to boot.

www.flintlocks.com will get you there.

I've met both Jim and Barbie, toured the shop, handled the guns, and I'm here to tell you, you won't find two better folks who produce better parts and support them better than Jim and Barbie.

Barbie will jump through hoops to get you what you want/need. Jim can and will fix one of his locks faster than you can blink, and probably has more gunbuilding knowledge in his pinky finger than I will ever know. He is definitely a master gunbuilder, metalsmith and engraver. His craftmanship is absolutely outstanding... I could barely breathe holding his guns and admiring the work.

If you choose them for your vendor, you certainly will not regret it.
