OK, OK.......From back in the early 80's..... Don Getz and a couple of his buddies decided to get in the kit business. That was pretty much untraveled territory back then, with this high quality of stuff. They went with the Bivins parts because everybody thought that stuff was so cool back then and Bivins was THE man back in those days.Those Bivins parts were some of the first high quality investment castings on the market. The whole idea of the project was to make a deer hunting rifle for PA.'s flint only season. That's how it ended up with a 38" barrel as Don figured that would be best for a light hunting rifle.
Later, Dunlap recieved permission to copy the gun for his use, then Chambers/Leply/Getz combined together in kit sales. At the present time Getz, Chambers and Dunlap all sell the Haines kit, all started off of Don Getz's original pattern.
