I have a Pedersoli 12ga and have a hard time finding black powder if I changed from a #11 cap to a mag spark that uses 209 primer and use black horn 209,normal black powder charge is 80 grains goex ffg. Would this work and what would the Black horn 209 equivalent charge be.

mag spark that uses 209
Believe the Mag Spark is a screw together deal. You have to unscrew the part that holds the firing pin. I see PIA and parts to drop. I drop and lose enough percussion caps. Just my opinion.

Your profile doesn’t say where you live, but unless you are in a place like Alaska, black powder is pretty easy to get online, but that wasn’t your question. Have you tried Pyrodox? I have short (12” barrel) percussion blunderbuss that I let the local ‘youngsters’ (the dads always want a turn) shoot on holidays like the Forth. Load it with Pyrodox I want to get rid of under cotton balls. Always seems to go off with #11 caps and I am real popular with the local kids and their dads, although I get the evil eye from some of the moms.

I would be very reluctant to use Black horn 209.
Pryrodex or Tripple 777 would be a better choice, but nothing beats real black.
In a shotgun, you can often open up the nipple flash hole one or two number drill sizes to achieve reliable ignition with Pyrodex, 777, or Black Mz. I doubt it would with Black horn though.
Substitutes all have their own problems, worse problems than ordering the real stuff IMO.

You will get a hotter flame from the increased amount of priming material in the magnum caps. I will also recommend a replacement nipple designed to use with the difficult to ignite synthetic black powder substitutes such as the Hotshot or Spitfire nipple.
