What is your input on one of these guns??I found one and was thinking of picking it up ,The barrel is ok, and it is average condition. Just being new to the old style muzzle loaders i am unsure cause i never heard of one of these. :idunno:

They were imported back in the late '70's and 80's by the Charles Daly company.

Their quality isn't as good as a Pedersoli or Uberti made gun but it's better than some of the old imports.

If the bore is in good condition and you wanting a sidelock muzzleloader then go ahead and buy it if the price is something you can afford.

It's just a guess but if it is in good condition it is probably worth somewhere in the $140-$200 range.

I have a Charles Daly .45 cal Hawken. It is made in Italy by Invest Arms. The rifeling is unusual. It has 12 lands and grooves. It shoots just fine. Comparable to my TC .45 Hawken. I only shot 20 rounds through it. I would have to shoot it more to to see if the rifeling has any advantage over rifles with 6 or 8 lands and grooves.
I like my Thompson Center Hawken .45 or .50 better. The TC is better quality and fits me better plus I like American made best, although I do have numerous CVA, Traditions, and InvestArms rifles and pistols.
