After searching the net for beeswax suppliers I finally found one with reasonable prices.

Their filtered beeswax is the best deal I could find anywhere.
Shipping and handeling included you can get 2 pounds for $14 or 3 pounds for $18.
The more you get the cheaper it is per pound.
Even going to a local beekeeper is not cheaper for me.

You didn't mention the 'unfiltered' for $2.50 per pound! We're going to melt it anyway, so pouring it once through a piece of metal screening to get the dead bees out doesn't scare me off. If you slice the crud on the bottom layer off before melting you'd have even less to worry about. Great job on the hunt.

'Course, the unfiltered comes in 10 to 20 lb chunks, and 10 lbs of beeswax will last me a loooong time, and by the time I add $12.50 shipping (not included for the unfiltered) . . . It's still only $3.75/lb.

This is the same logic that caused me to have 2,000 fiber shot wads at one time for my M/L shotgun. Still whittling that lot down. :winking:

I thought about the unfiltered also but as you said 10-20 pounds would last a long long time. two pounds will make a helluva lot of lube. That should last me a year at least.

I saw that site when I was doing my shopping but their shipping charges are pretty high. it would be almost $15 with shipping added.
The site I suggested is $14 for 2 pounds shipping included.
Beeswax is some pretty expensive stuff.

The folks at the site I mentioned above are great. They take really good care of you. I wanted to order some once filtered wax but they were out so they are sending me their premium twice filtered wax for the same price.
Excellent customer service.
These folks run a "mom and pop" operation and are eager to please the customer.

I got my beeswax from these folks today. It's really nice stuff.
I paid for 2 pounds and they sent me 2 pounds 11 ounces. Great deal.
I melted it all down and filtered it one more time through cheesecloth. It was already filtered but I am a stickler about things.
I poured it into muffin tins and made a bunch of nice little hockey pucks for later use in lube manufacture.
I brewed up a batch of lube with beewax and olive oil. I didn't know what ratio to use and went overboard with the beewax, my lube is a block.
I will get another bottle of olive oil tomorrow and re-mix.

hey, "out a huntin" I just mix up some patch lube made with beeswax and olive oil. the ratio used was 4 parts oil and 1 part beeswax, make sure the oil is as hot as the wax to get a good mix. the batch I made looks good. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I ordered 3 lbs one night, got a confirmation of the order the next day AND they shipped it to me USPS priority before I even sent the payment! I got the order two days later ( 3 1/2 lbs ) - probably the same day they got my check - now that's what I call good old fashioned service! :applause: :applause: :applause:

eBay: You can't beat it. I just saw 5oo one pound block of filtered beeswax from a bee keeper in Wva. at $3.25 per pound. Shipping is 5 bucks, so it would be wise to get ten pounds at that price.
Just a thort.

Deb and John? Briely(beeswaxfrombeekeepers.com) arrived in Prince George, B.C. this evening. Deb called and I met them at Boston Pizza, not far from home, to get the 20lb. I ordered in July. They and their family are on their way to Prince Rupert & graciously brought my order with them from the States to simplify shipping. They are wonderful people- very friendly and likeable. We had a most excellent visit.
; Oh yeah- the beeswax is beautiful- Now, if I can just keep from eating it.

A trick I learned from a guy, is to coat your cast iron skillet with beeswax to keep food from sticking while cooking.

I'm with RAYNOR on this. I ordered from Stakich and was very pleased with the price and product. Order at least 10 pounds (I would suggest) in order to come out of the shipping.
