You can probably find cheaper material at Wal-Mart or some place like that but even at that, it figures out to only about one cent per patch. If you use five patches to clean your rifle, that is less than the cost for the powder for one shot. It's probably the least expensive thing you will buy for your rifle. But I surely do understand the desire to save as much money as you can so you will have more money to spend on more guns. The words "too many" and "guns" do not belong in the same sentence.

This week there were 3XL long sleeve pull over cotton shirts at the outlet mall for $2.97.
Oh yeah, and thumbs up on marrying a quilter.

I'll have to check and see if our Wal-Mart still has a fabric dept. Seems I recall their closing it.

Wal-mart in my area has a fabric dept. still. I just purchased a yard of long nap 100% cotton for cleaning patches, I think I gave $2.99 for it. I figure I can get a WHOLE lot of patches out of that..this is my first time doing this. I was going to the local Bass Pro and buying pre-cut cotton patches. If my yard of cotton patches work well...I will not go back to the pre-cut.

A thought, :hmm:

You might browse thrift clothing stores such as GoodWill. They sometimes get fabrics donated; when they do, they sell it dirt cheap. Might just pick up a couple yards for a dollar!

Old cotton t shirts, flannel shirts and sweat shirts. The sweat shirts are thicker and make good patches for swabbing the barrels.

cotton t-shirts white only!..
I'm a dirt magnet no problem finding stained shirts..
rummage sales..25 cents each. 1 shirt last 1-2 months.

I use old flannel shirts, pajamas and nightgowns. Lately I found an old union suit back in a closet that I bought 25 years ago. Well, it don't fit no more so guess where it went.

i disagree, as in " it is not possible or reasonable to have "too many" "guns" in your gunsafe. "
