OK, I would bet that every member and guest here would willingly and regularly shoot 777 or Pyrodex if they could get no Black Powder at all. Even the flinter purists, if they had but a single lb of 4f left for prime and 5 gr down the tube they (we) would ALL KEEP SHOOTING.

Who sold the old mans vinatge truck cuz we cant get leaded fuel? Nope we add lead. etc etc etc etc

Some of us drive Fords because we can't afford Caddy's, shoot Traditions because we can't afford the hand built guns, and use the other powders because the black isn't available. Funny thing is we end up where we want to go, and have fun shooting at stuff. That's all that matters. Some folks just make a big deal out of nothing.
Your post was so good & 100% on point that I had to come back & read it for a second time. And both times left me sitting here shakin my head with “ he!! Yeah “ both times. Well said sir.

About getting the holy Black, be intellectually honest. If all you need/want is 1 or 2lb a year you'll always pay premium prices and be at the mercy of the supply chain. Spend a bit more and amortize the costs. Better yet, pool your order with another and get quantity discounts. I go through 30+lbs each year. Buying 1 or 2lb at a time and paying shipping and hazmat for each shipment would be ruinously expensive for that amount.

If you insist on using a sub, then don't whine about problems you've been warned about. Personally, if all that was on shelves were subs, I'd be making my own.

Another part of this overall problem, you guys are shopping Walmart aka ChinaCo. There's a reason the local guys are closing doors. Support your neighbors and local shops first.

Assuming you can find it for sale online, shipping and hazmat from both grafs and powder valley are only ~$35 for up to 8lbs
Problem is 1 - needing/wanting enough powder, 2 - finding enough of the powder you need/want available at same time from same vendor

What really sucks though is if you order primers too, they gotta ship separate so 2x hazmat etc. :(

I stopped in Wally World in Humboldt TN late yesterday afternoon on my way home for some dog food. Swung by sporting goods on the off chance and found they had some CCI #11s, Pyrodex RS and another substitute that didn't interest me. They had like 8 tins of caps. I originally was going to grab 2, but the guy that worked there said he didn't know when they'd get more and it would probably be a while. So I ended up with 3 figuring to leave something for the next guy. As all I've had for powder for my old dubble burrel is some 20 year old RS, I picked up a fresh jug of that until I can find some proper FFg.

Ended up a win/win. I can shoot without having to wait a second or two between the pop of the cap and the main charge going off and the puppies get to eat too.

I checked two of the somewhat local to me wal marts for caps today, nada. I was near Acadamy Sports, so I stopped by to see if they had any. I didn't see anything that related to a muzzleloader, but if you need a "survival spear" or "tactical socks", they could fix you up.

Wally didn't have any caps in The Woodlands, Texas today, but it's not in a neighborhood that would buy them. :(
I checked the local East Texas Walmart this afternoon pretty well and didn't see anything muzzleloader related at all, seems that that kind of stuff just isn't popular enough for them to stock it.

We don't have much of a muzzleloader season tradition here. The season was only added a few years ago, and the general rifle season is long enough that a lot of folks don't mess with it.

Looks like muzzleloading season at the local WalMarts around here is about over. Haven't seen anything for a front stuffer in a couple of weeks now. Maybe I should have picked up another bottle of Pyrodex.
