That looks like a beautiful little rifle. I bet the deer and squirrels don't like it much though. :winking:

It is a great shooter. And alot easier to carry than that hawkens. You know the older the lazier.

I killed my first black powder deer with a cherokee in .45 cal. Wish I still had mine! :(

I had a .32 and .45 Cherokee and a .36 Seneca that I sold not knowing that they could not be replaced. Dumb, very dumb. I just bought a .32 Cherokee in 95% condition and will keep it to pass on to my grandkids, lesson learned. ET :youcrazy:

When I bought that gun I paid 170$ new. Now I wish that I bought 10 of them talk about an investment. They are like hens teeth around these part and if you find one big $$$

TOW has Cherokee barrel kits but you will spend a couple of hundred just to have a second caliber. Sure would like to have a .36 and .45 barrel for mine. ET :redthumb:

 From the picture it looks like you carried it to the stand on a four-wheeler, was it really that hard?

Seriously it looks like a sweet little rifle, what are you using for a deer load? I never had the opportunity to own or even shoot a Cherokee, but if it's as accurate as the Renegades I've shot, then it should be absolutely deadly on deer.

I had the Seneca version of this gun in .45 caliber and had a second .36 caliber barrel. A great little gun, easy to carry and a good shooter.

Gun was stolen in a home break-in about 10-12 years ago along with several other guns. The .45 barrel was mounted at the time and they left the .36 barrel behind. Checked all the pawn shops locally but the gun(s) never showed up and no one was ever caught.

TC had stopped production by then so I couldn't even buy a replacement. That was before the days of the internet and E-Bay so finding a used one was nearly impossible unless they were junk. Ended up selling the .36 barrel just a few years ago. I kept hoping TC would start up production again or I'd find a used gun in as good of condition as the one stolen.

I built a .45 caliber Caleb Vincint Ohio half stock style to replace it.

That is to pick up my kills. I use 60 pyr with maxie balls drill out.

Have you ever used it for small game, (if that's legal for you)? a reduced load and PRB would probably make a nice little squirrel gun, but in PA MLs larger than .40 cal. aren't legal for small game.

That's my deer load,,,I use a 32 maxi, with 20 gr pyro for the squirrels. I wish they would let us use the 32's for turkeys in Jersey.

.32 would be great fer squirrlys....shoot em in 1 eYe and the ball comes out the other eye....No waste...not messy.
