I have an itch that needs some attention. Are these Chiappa muskets any good? Taylor’s has one in stock but I have no knowledge or experience with this manufacturer. They are not cheap, but what is now a days. Thanks in advance for any replys.

I just checked Dixie Gun Works and they have a 1842 smoothbore in stock also made by chiappa. I think that the smooth bore would be more period correct, however, I am in the dark when it comes to the quality of these guns.
They are decent guns, I have one in smoothbore. I did have to replace a mainspring once but other than that I have had no issues. As far as correctness, they are one of the closest to original off the shelf Civil War repros available. Rifled or smooth are both correct, some of the smoothbores were rifled and sighted after rifle muskets became the norm. The smoothbore version was more common though.
I have 2 Chiappa/ Armi Sport muskets- a Richmond Rifle and the Richmond Carbine. I've been skirmishing with them for 5+ years with minimal fuss. They are very accurate and dependable- if I do my part!

The 33" barrel model.
Trigger needed work.
Has a .696" bore diameter with .0035" deep grooves.
Had to come up with .695" minies. Using an altered Lyman #68569.
And a Lyman #57730 altered to a .69 paper patched design.
Using a wafer magnet under the rear sight ladder to raise to point of impact.
