Chisel use in YouTube videos Moravian carving

Can some one tell what size and type of chisel being use? I had asked in the comments field, but no one has answered.

It's a gouge, I'd guess something in the 16-19mm width and around 5mm sweep.

Beats me man, that was 3 or 4 years ago. I'd have to look in my roll of chisels and see. You can do that technique with any size sweep and make larger or smaller designs depending on your tool size. I have a roll of around 3 dozen chisles I use solely for stabing in carving.

Look up Peter Follansbee on you tube, he is the man when it comes to this type of carving, he tells what he uses on different designs, he was a jointer at the Plymouth Plantation for 20 yrs, building and repairing 17th century furniture

It looks like he needs to remove a couple hundred board feet before he worries about carving. Most carving can be done with a skew chisel, including wire inlay,

I'm not set up to do videos, but have taught several local builders how. I've done dozens of guns doing it.

Yes, just switched around for each cut. Never saw it done that way in wood. It is more of a leather working technique........I believe.

Nifty, I have never worked with leather before. I suppose you could use the technique for border work.
