I saw this rifle in a book "The Kentucky Rifle", Merrill Lindsay, and again in"Kentucky Rifles & Pistols 1750-1850", James R. Johnston. It is a later date (1810) than rifles that I make, but something about it captured my imagination, so.........
It is not a bench copy, rather like he made another one. I kind of like my version, but I think I missed the mark in many ways.
L&R Bailes lock, my own hard maple stock blank, Getz .50cal, straight barrel, heavily modified trigger guard and butt plate, fabricated the rest.
My photography skills are terrible but usually make the gun look better, in this case I think it looks better in hand than in pictures, another mystery. Anyway, comments pro and con are welcome. Thanks for looking.
