So should the trigger guard be in let into the stock? It comes that way but if the stock was sanded down to the level of the trigger plate the gun would be a whole lot slimmer. I have slimmed it down some already.

So here’s a pic of a British officers pistol Dave did. I know he did in let the trigger guard some but it seems the trigger plate is flush with the wood.

So I have thinned it down a lot. It’s looking sleeker! I wish it wasn’t so thick in the lock area. But the only solution to thin it down that I can think of is to sand the stock down 1/16-3/32 on both lock and side plate flats. Then bevel the edge of the lock to meet the wood…witch would be more similar to some flint locks. I also would like to move the rear ram rod thimble back about 1”. The last photo is one that has inspired me to move the ram rod thimble back. It allows a quicker transition into thinner stock which makes a gun seem less chunky.

So my parts came from track of the wolf today! Want some help/advice. The butt cap was labeled as one for a Kentucky pistol. Yet it seems small….I have not thinned the handle down yet because I was waiting for the butt cap. That said the handle feels pretty good in my hands as is. Check out the pics. Any thoughts/help?
Also not sure on the new muzzle cap. It’s obviously installed backwards but that’s just so that I can see how it’s going to lineup. I’m just wondering if the gap between the ramrod and the muzzle cap is too great? Compared to most of the pictures I’ve seen it looks like too big of a gap…. But that could be because many of the pictures have ram rods that are flared on the end.
Thanks for your help!!

I think the butt cap is doable if you want it that small. You sure would have to lose a lot of wood to use that muzzle end. Definately brown the barrel - it will give the pistol a whole different look - even a so-so browning is better than the blue. A little mottled on the browning is fine, in my opinion. Just sayin all of this - I'm no kind of expert, just saying what I personally like. So, after all this blathering, I think you should do what you want with your own pistol. It is looking really good so far. Ain't it great to have a really, really good wife?? Me too.
