I had a chance to visit the Contemporary Longrifle Associations show in Lexington, KY this past week end. I took my young son and we had a great time. I was very impressed with the quality and variety of rifles and parts I saw. The major suppliers were there. I spoke to folks from Rice, Getz, and Jim Chambers as well as MANY others. There were several makers there too of course.

I spoke with a really nice fella named Allan Sandy from West Virginia. His work was super nice. He had some beautiful pieces there.

I am just getting into muzzleloading and the CLA show was a great opportunity to see and feel some really nice guns. It was quite an education and I really enjoyed it. Who knew I'd find such a great show in my own back yard?

Did anyone else attend?

I was there for all of Friday, we left out early Sat. Spent enough time there though to buy a couple barrels, locks, and ofcourse more stocks, and to make sure that I was totally broke once again

I was there too, what a show! Spent two days wandering around and could have easily put in two more days. Way to much to see and it generated even more interest, questions and ideas. Met some really nice people and saw some beautiful guns both new and old.

Yes, I was there set up on two tables just about in the center. My place was the one with all of the Southern Mountain Rifles---one of the tables had a bear hide with head mounted, and the other had the big bobcat with powder horns, knives, etc. on the table.

I came home with a new .60cal Southern Mountain piece made by David Dodds that I fully intend to use on bear, deer and hogs starting very soon, now

I was there all day Friday and didn't want to leave, only doing so after I had spent myself into the doghouse with the "War Department"! I was sweating the parking fee and was glad to see the money collectors had left for the day. I now have $4.00 left in my "addiction fund". I picked up a barrel that I had ordered from Ed Rayle a while back. He's great to deal with, but very busy. I was impressed that he was good for his word and got it done for me so I could pick it up at the show. Every one I talked to was very gracious and answered my questions with enthusiasm. The talent that comes out of the woodwork is amazing! The big time builders I expect to have quality stuff, but so did the "Garage Warriors" All in all it was a very humbling experience as I has always been for me. I can't wait for next year!
