Any idea for a jag to clean .300 smoothbore everything I have tried either gets stuck on the back stroke or looses the patch. I'm thinking about some 30 caliber mops but not sure if they would leave the bore dry enough between shots
42 inch narrelHow long of barrel is it?
If your short enough a regular .30 kit with slotted patch holder might work fine
At's what I do with my .27 smoothbore.Use a bronze bore brush for a .22 and wrap a patch around it.
Almost impossible for a patch to come off.
Also almost impossible to get the brush stuck.
But, if anyone can screw up swabbing out a bore, it's muzzleloaders.
I don't know about anybody else but I'd love to see a picture of that gun.Any idea for a jag to clean .300 smoothbore everything I have tried either gets stuck on the back stroke or looses the patch. I will give that a try, I ended up pulling the breech plug last night and working on getting in cleaned out now. Part of the problem is fouling and rust down in the barrel that I couldn't see from the muzzle end.Have you tried tow on a tow worm?
I'm in the exact opposite situation. I have a .75 cal Brown Bess. However, nothing was working for me until I bought some tow and did it old-school.
That seems to work pretty good thanks for the suggestionUse a bronze bore brush for a .22 and wrap a patch around it.
