I know quite a few people with fine handmade muzzleloaders. None of them have removed the pinned barrel for cleaning. Might remove the lock every year or two. Most of the better made and correct guns have very little wood in the barrel area and one would run the chance of a bad mishap on a ten thousand dollar gun by frequently removing the barrel to clean under the wood.

I do not have any 10K Guns, but do remove the lock Frequently to Clean it. Removeing the Barrel does chance Big Problems like have a Half Stock Post removal..... :shake:
